Japan Day 8 - Ahead Of Schedule

Not that we keep a schedule, mind you.

Last night's sleep was a little nervraking. Maybe because I had that last hot cup of coffee around five pm, maybe because of all the drunk stumbling we saw in Himeji's night life brought back to life in the form of laughter and kind yelling outside the tent all night. Even so, we still managed a full nights rest.

Turns out we camped next to a lawn golf field and some youngsters were up for a late game. And there you go. Another "iffy" moment in traveling born out of uncertanty, turns out to be harmless midnight mischief.

Because camping is niether legal not illegal (that is, there are no public decency laws to support or regulate) we end up many times in locations that maps don't even pic up on.

Our routine normally has us up before dawn. Cold? Sure. Even for these cherry blossom trees. We are moving south, to somewhat warmer weather and hope to see these trees blossom their iconic pink flowers soon. So far, we're a bit early for spring, winter still bites.

More fishing villages today on the way to Okayama. And, you can see, a few small hills to climb and descend. Layers off durring the climb but put your sweater on for the downhill, frosty wind chills!

Check this out - a bridge in progress! Almost done.

Your stars of the show!

Ok mama, this ones for you. Bad Thai eating habits corrected in Japan. Sushi, bananas, overpriced strawberries, bell peppers, and tomatoes makes a powerhouse curbside lunch - we were flying after this meal! In fact, we arrived in Okayama four hours early ;)

Did you know Japan has a thriving turtle population? Unfortunately they have a short life span, especially because they're habitat resides adjacent to the dairy isle.

Somewhere in between my sister pointed out focasha (pizza bread) in the grocery store we stopped out. If you've read my One Year Anni. Food post from Thaialnd, you know how much I love pizza. So much, that I ate the whole thing before snapping a pic.

Four hours with nothing to do in a big city? Follow Gabi's nose to the famous sushi turn stalls. No need to order, or wait and not as expensive as you think.

What's this? Never tried this one before....(not photographed, the dozen plates undernieth this one. Even though we were so full at this point we had to try this exotic looking one!)

Gabi using her body language to communicate which ice cream she'll have and how.

Although we arrived four hours early, we did pick up on some wild Sakura buds....should be any day now.

And the San Francisco Giants might have fallen to the A's 4-0 but the Tokyo Giants creamed the Osaka Tigers 12-4!

Tonight we spend with Yo, an Osaka man living in Okayama for work. Very nice, polite, and a well rounded host. Oh, and a heck of a good cook. He made us a hot-pot of cabbage, oyster mushrooms, leafy greens, and chicken spiced to perfection! We did not go to bed hungry =)

And he even showed us to the laundromat in the morning (it was about that time). What a trooper. Good luck Yo - thanks again!!

So that's how it whent. We followed Yo home and chatted for a long while about the world, where's he's been, his other hosting experiences, and of course, baseball. Turns out that he's even been to San Francisco =)

Sleping well now between boughts of new levels in PvZ2. Tomorrow we hope to catch the castle here and accompanying gardens.

Love,
-A
