Indonesia, Java - Down But Not Out

It's inevitable - I got sick.

Still not sure what it was really. I became fatigued overnight along side a slight chill. Actually, I welcome the chill during the hot days. It was much worse at night. My strength was sapped for two days straight, and I really felt my body give out on the ride here to Bandung.

I don't feel like I really got to see much of this city, for that reason. I was still recovering and wanted to just take things slow for once.

I got my want and in the perfect place. The three of us stayed with Abdyka, a stand out and well read university student. His home is comfortable, quiet, well lit, and lined with books of all kinds - philosophy, novels, fiction, social commentary - I understand why Abdyka spends most days reading at home.

I was a guest in his home however, so I suppose he felt it necessary to entertain though I would have been fine just reeding all day too in the guest room. So while Chris and Steve pushed on to visit the south shores if Java in hunt for rhinos, Abdyka and I called up a few friends and played dominoes until one in the morning. You know, to give my legs a rest.

Dominoes, cards, and a birthday party the next day; I got my rest in. I was feeling much, much better at this point. Maybe it was that durian donut I ate! I was pumped and ready to hit the road agin. But Abdyka wouldn't let me leave without one last reading: my tarot cards.

You know how this works. You ask a question to the cards and they'll provide an answer. Not always what you want to hear. Most people ask about their job, or their love life, or something like that. However I have the advantage of not needing to know the answer to either of those questions, as I have neither =)

So I asked about the status of this journey, will I find what it is I don't know I'm looking for, will I recognize it? The answer is personal. But here are the cards I chose, or the ones that chose my answer.

Off to Bogor next, the last city before reaching the megatropolis Jakarta. Stay tuned.
