Japan Day 12 - Eating up Km

Today's goal is straight forward. Get to Hiroshima. We are not behind schedule, not wanting to get out of town, not in any rush. All we both really want is a long all day cycle. And with this mild to cool weather Japan is giving us, the conditions couldn't be better.

So not many pictures today. Still, enjoy.

Breakfast at a chain of curry houses we dubbed CoCoCurries. What's so special? How about letting you choose your spice level! Yum!

Ahhh, the Japanese country side. These are those moments where pictures will not justify the experience.

Still, I hope you get the idea of seeing these armor plated homes covered by mountains and surrounded by streams and fields.

Besides the scenery, the air has never been more crisp, fresh.

Miso soup! A classic predecessor to...

Sushi!

And more sushi! These conveyer belt sushi houses are everywhere. We really enjoy eating here because you only have to commit to as much food as you want. One, two, three plates? Up to you. By why stop at three?

Nice moon tonight. Ok, this story will spoil this picture a bit, but here we go. The dolphin captured here is actually a part of a larger hotel sign. Curious if the prices here would be a little cheaper than Himeji, we agreed to at least check out the prices. So we bikes up, parked out bikes and bee-lined it to the desk. Only to not find one. There's a table, a phone, a sign that read "front" and a vending machine in the back. Wouldn't you know it, you could buy hotel rooms via vending machine here too! What? A little strange. Wasn't until a woman walked in, picked up the phone on the table, spoke a few words, and got buzzed up the elevator that we pieced together that my sister and I had walked into a love-hotel. Ah, got it. We're outa here, lol.

Traving in the land of vending machines, you know I had to buy a beer through one =) Unlike Thailand who won't sell you beer between 2-5pm daily, here you have a 24 hour service.

Just slot a few Yen, make a selection...

...and voilà! Salude!

Another successful day although sis broke another rear spoke. It's ok, these things happen. Reminds me of all the flats I pulled when I first began Indonesia. I suppose all bikes need some time to acclimate to the touring lifestyle as well.

Buenas noches,
-A
